Pharmaceutical Sales Rep blog
Here's a blog (above) that I found that gives some great tips for people trying to get into the industry. Yes, he's trying to sell a book (among other things), but if you like his free advice, it might be worth checking out. I know a lot of people coming to visit this site are NOT in the industry but want to find a way in. This might help. Let me know what you think.

How much does credit play into it. I have been ofered a job.
If you have really bad credit, it might be a concern since most times you'll get a business credit card. However, I've really never known someone to fail to get hired due to their credit check. Good luck!
Thanks, The job is with Forest. Do you know how it works with them and the credit check?
I was hired by placment company a few weeks ago and they have asked twice for info on my driving record. How long should it take for them to review and decide? I have three speeding and one accident within 3 years. First call was on Friday afternoon Feb 29and then again yesterday late afternoon. I was pretty stressed and ended up not passing (81) an exam. Will this hurt me?
I am a caterer and am trying to find out how to send my info to the sales rep. Is there a source to get a list of pharma reps?
First, regarding Forest. I am not sure how it works specifically with them and their credit check, but most likely - if they want you, they'll work with you to correct any minor issues. I would be honest with them when it is brought up, however. I have known people to lose out because they were caught in a lie.
Second, regarding the driving. It is similar. I've known someone who had to be on probation until the points fell off their record. They also occasionally will have you take a defensive driving class. I don't know what your specific situation is, but you can't control it - so don't let it control you or your test scores.
Good luck!
For the caterer, I recommend contacting some doctor's offices. Bring them some samples and ask them to distribute your info (or give you a list of some of their reps)...If you offer the reps a discount, they are more likely to use you. Also, you must deliver!
Thanks for your mention. There's now a free 30 minute webinar on pharma sales jobs and folks can sign up at the same blog.
Device Company is in need of independent reps to promote insurance scanner to Office Managers in physician offices. The scanner scans insurance cards and tells the staff what the patient's insurance coverage includes. This device saves MD offices an average of 50k per month in collection losses. If you are currently a pharma, medical, or device rep with current medical office relationships, send your resume to hullabaloon@aol.com. In the subject line of the email, state what county/city and state you would like your territory to include. Reps will be hired over the next 4 weeks. Interviews will be held and territories will be assigned on a first come, first serve basis.
Delighted that I found your site, fantastic info. I will bookmark and try to visit more frequently to know about Healthcare sales
